Thank you everyone for being a part of my Valentine Giveaway
The lucky winner was Donna Hansen-MacKendrick. Congratulations Donna a deserving winner for sure!
I recently painted a blue jay in a tree. Before I decided it was done. I took a photo of it. Things didn't seem to be right with the painting in the photo. There was a part that seemed to be coming out of the bird's head and the background did not blend well.
I made some changes to the tree by filling it in above the bird's head. The background needed some more blue tones in it to make it blend better.
So a little hint before you say your painting is complete, take a photo of it. You will be able to judge much better this way.

Happy Painting!!
I finished working on the 12 x 12 inch oil painting of the Blue Jay.
It was fun to do and a change from my large landscape that I completed earlier. I'm finishing up another one similar, but with a different little bird. I will show you the completed piece in my next newsletter.
Both of the reference photos came from a Facebook post of a friend of mine. She gave me permission to use them.
If you have a favorite photo that you would love to see in a painting, email me. I would be very pleased to work on creating your memories on canvas for you to enjoy.
