Getting Ready for the Gift Shops
It’s that time again—when I begin preparing my work for the upcoming giftshop season here on Prince Edward Island.
A special part of this process is creating my bookmarks, notecards and prints. Each one is carefully produced in my home studio, featuring images from my original paintings.Though small, the bookmarks carry a piece of the Island’s beauty—something visitors can tuck into a book and take home as a lasting reminder of their time here.
I’ve always believed that art doesn’t have to be large to be meaningful. These bookmarks are simple, accessible pieces that let people connect with the landscapes and seascapes that inspire my work every day.
I also want to take a moment to recognize and thank the many giftshops that make space for local artists. Your support helps keep Island creativity thriving and ensures that visitors can discover authentic, locally made pieces during their stay.
As I get everything ready for the season ahead, I’m looking forward to seeing my work out in the community—and perhaps in the hands of someone who wants to bring a little piece of Prince Edward Island home.

In The Studio
I’ve just completed a housewarming commission and have already started another—yes, another commission!
This new piece captures a former family home perched along the iconic red cliffs of Prince Edward Island. It’s a meaningful subject, full of history and personal connection, which always makes the process even more special.
I’m hoping to have it finished by the end of the month—stay tuned for progress updates!I am looking for another commission to start in April. Is there a special place that you would like to see captured in a painting? Let me know in an email.

Art Life
I continue to attend the Summerside Art Club’s paint-in every Thursday. It’s such a great experience to spend time with other artists while working on my paintings. Whenever I feel stuck, I can always count on my friends there for helpful advice and encouragement.
Here is one of my latest paintings. Thank you to my friend Lisa for allowing me to use her photo as a reference. It is always hard to come up with a name, can you help me name it? Drop me an email juneellisartist@gmail.com
