Welcome to My Newsletter - September 25th, 2020

This is a painting of Milford House in Nova Scotia.  A friend of mine usually goes there every fall with her family.  When I saw her photo, I just had to paint it.  The vibrant colors were what captivated me - oranges, yellows, reds.   (11x14 oil on stretched canvas)

This is my very First Newsletter and I hope you enjoy it. To say things have changed for me and my art is an understatement. But then everything has changed over the last six months, haven't they. I am sure there has been many changes for you as well. With having to put my art classes on hold, no traveling, several artisans shops shutting down, or limiting their business operations, I have had some time to paint and the new term for my art business 'pivot'. I have moved my art business to on-line through my website. Something that was beyond me to do on my own, so I put it in the capable hands of an expert.  Much less frustrating that way for sure! My plans are to send out a couple of newsletters per month. They will give you a little insight into why I paint and as well if you are interested in painting yourself, some tips that I have learned along the way. I will also give you a sneak peak of each of my new paintings before they go on my website.  Please feel free to share this email to anyone you think might be interested in receiving it. If you wish to opt-out at any time, you can do so at the bottom of this email.

What fuels my desire to paint? I want to show people the beauty that surrounds us.  Through my paintings, I want to instill a sense of peacefulness to the viewer by capturing calm colors and an "in the moment" feeling. Through my art classes, I want to assist people in creating something beautiful by giving them the tools and guidance to create in a caring, peaceful atmosphere.  A get away from the hustle of life, to quiet their mind and soul and be at peace in creating.

Tips for the Artist in You... As an artist, I am always trying to get in the mindset of painting.  Many times I am stumped in what to paint.  For me, I take lots of photos and paint from these (or in some cases other peoples photos with their permission). It is a good idea to have a supply of photos on hand for you to choose from.

I wanted to capture the clouds and the round bales of straw in the distance. It is one of the many scenes that one would see on their travels over the country side on Prince Edward Island. This is oil on stretched canvas - 11x 14 framed.
