One of the joys of living and painting in Prince Edward Island is that you never know what beautiful scene you'll discover around the next bend. On this day, I had set out with my camera to photograph the colourful lupins that bloom along our country roads each summer. As I drove through the countryside, I came across this beautiful red dirt road stretching toward the distant shoreline, bordered by vibrant purple lupins on both sides. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect Island scene. 

The rich red clay road, a signature feature of Prince Edward Island, draws your eye toward the water on the horizon, while the stately tree provides a sense of quiet shelter and balance. The colourful lupins add a touch of seasonal beauty, creating a scene that captures everything I love about the Island's rural landscape. 

I especially enjoy painting PEI's iconic red dirt roads and fields of lupins. Together, they tell the story of summer on the Island and evoke memories of peaceful drives through the countryside, where every turn reveals another breathtaking view.

My hope is that this painting brings a sense of calm, nostalgia, and the simple beauty of Prince Edward Island into someones home.
