Silver Lining

Silver Lining

To 2020

2020 Silver Lining

This year has been an upside down year. My heart goes out to those who have suffered so much this year due to Covid and to those who have been forgotten due to Covid.

The front line staff must be truly exhausted. I cannot express how thankful we are to you. I can't imagine the tireless hours you have spent coping.

I have found a silver lining to the year by painting more and learning more on the business of art. I truly hope that you can find a Silver Lining to your year.

Art Life

It has been a busy year trying to tackle the road of Facebook, Instagram posts and LinkedIn. It has been a very steep learning curve on how to maneuver through my new e-commerce site. I swear at times, I think it takes 10 times longer for me to figure things out and do it, than someone else. Then to remember how to do it all over again the next time. It is getting there, but sometimes it takes way more time than I would like, which in turn takes time out of my art studio.

I am grateful that things have slowed down some and I can concentrate on the Christmas season. Sad that four of our children will not be able to make it home for Christmas this year, but will talk to them for sure.

Please feel free to share this with anyone you think might be interested in receiving it.

In the Studio

I am getting along very good in my studio with getting paintings started and finished. I like to have at least two paintings on the go as it gives one time to dry some while I am working on the other.

Yesterday, I went through the pictures that were sent to me through Facebook to see which ones I am going to use for reference photos. I printed off 18 and will see if I will actually accomplish that many paintings this year. Will see!

Tips for the Artist in You

My tip this time is simple. Keep painting. So many of my artist friends lay down their brushes and don't pick them up. I try to set a certain time of day aside to paint. 3:00 o'clock seems to work for me. I put on an audio book or a Netflix and paint away and before I know it an hour or two have gone by and I have made great progress. Try it, and see if it works for you.

Most Recent Work

Here is one painting that hasn't made it to my website yet. Somehow it got forgotten. I like the soft colors of this beach scene (11x14 oil on stretched canvas). It is called "Secluded". I was walking along my favorite beach one day and looked back to see this little cottage tucked away. Hope you like it.

It has been nice chatting with you. Take care of yourself as we finish 2020, which has been a very memorable one. It is my hope that you stay healthy and safe in 2021. Talk to you soon. June 🎄
