Yes, I saw some snowflakes falling today. But that doesn't discourage me to still think of the beach and lighthouses. This painting is still one of my favorites. Northport Lighthouse is actually a privately owned lighthouse. Who wouldn't want to live in a lighthouse? (at least for the summer) Available and framed waiting to be shipped.
In the Studio
I made a conscious effort to spend more time in the studio. I was pleased with the outcome and was able to complete two paintings. Now I have to get things ready for a pre-season Christmas sale that our Kensington Art Cooperative is having this Saturday. I have several paintings, prints, notecards and bookmarks ready. Will see how things go, wish us luck and plenty of customers!!
Tips for the Artist in You
I receive emails and newsletters from other artists that I follow. One recently caught my attention. This artist talked about the importance of every professional artist having a website.
How important is an artist website?
Do you really need one?
It is your portfolio
It is how you tell the world you are a serious artist
It is where you send galleries and those who are interested in your work.
It is all about you in a digital format.
You don't necessarily need an expensive website or even one that is an e-commerce site. All you need is one that you can show the best of your work.
There are quite a few free sites that you can use. Research them and see which is the best fit for you. It is important to make it look professional and have photos that will look great and show your paintings the best way possible.

This painting is a little different than what I usually paint with using a textured background. It is okay to do something a little different. I enjoyed creating this piece.
Since it is the 100 year anniversary of the Poppy, I thought it would be good to commemorate this special flower that stands tall for the many veterans that gave their lives for us.
Hope you like it.
