Sorry to be late with my newsletter this week, but I had 'grammie' time with this little guy. He melts my heart!
"Loons" This is a painting I did in 2002. It hangs in my son's home. There are so many things that I like about the month of May! The return of the birds is right up there. I also like the new flowers springing up, the scent of freshly cut grass and the crops being planted in the tilled soil. If you would like to see some of my flower paintings here is a link. https://www.juneellis.com/shop-3 A question for you, what do you like about the month of May? Drop me an email by hitting reply to this email.
In the Studio I finished teaching classes for the Seniors College this past week. It was great and I met some very lovely talented ladies that I am sure will continue their painting. I gave a fun paint night to seven ladies, who have painted with me before. A photo below of their accomplishments. If you are ever interested in a paint night with a group of your friends, just let me know juneellisartist@gmail.com Am getting more paintings, prints, notecards and bookmarks ready for the gift shops at The Little Red School House, PEI Creations, La Palette, Kensington Art Coop and Avonlea Artisans. Hopefully, you will get a chance to go to one of these gift shops and see the beautiful handmade creations Paint Night With the Ladies
Tips for the Artist in You Limited Palette To those who don't know, it is limiting the number of paint colors that you use to the three primary colors red, blue and yellow and mixing all the other colors from there using white when you need it. Limiting the palette can be very useful and economical as well. It saves on the number of colors that you purchase. We all tend to buy some pretty colors that we never really use. It also helps when you paint on site to not have to carry as many paints. If you haven't already tried painting by just using those three colors, I suggest you give it a try. If you have any questions about it, please send me an email and I would be more than happy to help. juneellisartist@gmail.com
Most Recent Work Here is a painting that I completed for a project. I don't normally paint portraits, but had fun doing this one. A little more work to do on the beard and I will be done.
