What Plans Do You Have For the Summer?

West Point Lighthouse, PEI This painting sold some years ago, but the print is my most popular. If you ever go to Mill River Resort have a look at the entrance to the dining room. There is a very large print there on your left. I wanted to dedicate this newsletter to lighthouses on PEI. Doing a Google search, I found the following. "PEI is believed to have the highest concentration of lighthouses in North America with 61 lighthouses and range lights. On average, you can find one lighthouse every 55 km.

In the Studio Well, I am not actually going to be in the studio for a week as I am flying out to Montreal and on to Ottawa to visit my younger sister. Our plans are to visit some galleries and vineyards and just hang out. I do hope to bring some watercolors to practice on. What plans do you have for the summer? Hopefully, lots of time with family and friends. I would like to challenge you to visit a PEI lighthouse this summer, and maybe one you have never been to before. Take some photos and let me know if I can use them for a reference for a future painting. Here are four more of my lighthouse paintings. Tips for the Artist in You

Plein Air Painting is about leaving the four walls of your studio behind and experiencing painting and drawing in the landscape.

The weather is getting nicer and the colors are so breathtaking. It is time to get out into nature and capture some of those colors.

Have you ever tried plein air painting? There are groups you can ask to join or just head out on your own or with a friend. It gives you a whole new perspective and can be fun. You don't always finish a painting on site, but that's okay. It can be completed back in your studio.

If you have any questions about it, please send me an email and I would be more than happy to help. juneellisartist@gmail.com
