In the Studio I must admit, I thought October was going to be a quiet month for me to get back into my studio and in front of my easel. That wasn't the case. I've been busy with galleries, markets and teaching a paint night class. Maybe November will be quieter... We have also been busy cleaning up after the worst hurricane to hit Canada. We lost power for several days, and then cleaning up downed trees, but we were not the worst hit. Some have been without power for three weeks and suffered severe damage due to tidal surges. Our seascape has been changed dramatically. One of those lost icons was Teacup Rock. Sadly to say it is gone

Plein Air Painting is about leaving the four walls of your studio behind and experiencing painting and drawing in the landscape.
Plein air painting is the act of painting outdoors from nature. This is in contrast to painting inside in the studio. It is the best way for an artist to learn to see the true colors ofnature, and also to capture the mood and feeling of a place. Artists throughout history have gone outdoors to paint to better understand the landscape.
Fall is a wonderful time to do this for several reasons.
cooler time of year
fewer people around
less bugs/mosquitos to bother you
being on site can give you a deeper insite into the colors and feel for the landscape
