"Tyne Valley - PEI" is an oil painting I did many years ago. I was driving to work one morning and saw this scene. I turned around and went back and asked the gentleman if I could take a photo of the barn and tractor with full intentions of painting it. The original I gave to my younger sister who lives in Orleans, Ontario. I wanted her to have a memory of the area we grew up in and with us raised on a farm, this painting seemed an appropriate gift to her. Prints are available
In the Studio
I am working on a commisson painting that is going to be a housewarming gift from a mom to her son. To see more of my Commissions please go to https://www.juneellis.com/copy-of-testimonals I usually work on a couple of paintings at a time. This allows one oil painting to dry while I work on another one. I am trying to work on some larger paintings to be included in my Mill River series. To see more of my completed commissions go to

This is the large oil painting 24x36 inch on stretched canvas that I recently completed. What caught my eye when taking the reference photo was how the mist made the scene so peaceful. I hope I brought this feeling through my painting. To purchase
Tips for the Artist in You
I came across this great tip that I wanted to share with you.
"How to make a dark yellow".
Making a dark yellow may appear to be difficult, but this is something I recently learned that I wanted to share with you.
I use purple (red and blue to make purple) to add to the yellow. (These are complimentary colors)
Take small amounts of purple at a time and mix it with the yellow until you get the shade you are looking for. Here is a photo of what I did.
