Spring Cleaning

ellisjune21

Spring is about new beginnings, flowers blooming and song birds returning. And in particular this little Daisy painting 5x7 original oil painting (available - $75; reduced to $50 for my newsletter subscribers)

In the Studio By this time our New Year's resolutions have probably gone out the window. I think Spring is a good time to revive yourself. It should be a time to throw things out, give away, put a shine on and start new projects. A good spring cleaning in the studio was in order for me. It was getting unmanageable. To solve some of my storage and actually be able to find things easily, I purchased a second hand filing cabinet. Then I set to purging (yes I threw out some old canvases too). The filing drawers enabled me to section things off for easy access and get rid of all the clutter. I still have some more work to do, but now it is inviting to work in. Would love to hear from you on ways you declutter. Just drop me an email.

Tips for the Artist in You

My theme this week is to get organized.

Have you had the trouble of trying to find that certain paint brush, that tube of paint that you need? I would suggest to do some decluttering and organize your materials.

I am fortunate that I was able to take over one of the bedrooms when the kids started moving out. If this isn't the case for you, put some of your things in tubs or the plastic storage drawers on wheels. Keeping similar things together.

I also use a binder with plastic sleeves to put in reference photos for future use and to keep contact information and other printed materials. A tidy studio is more inviting to paint in.

If you would like to reach out with a question, or a suggestion on how you keep organized, please hit reply to this email.

Happy Painting!!

Peak inside the studio

Here is a peak of my improved art room.

Artwork

The birds are back and this little one was hiding in the branches. It is a 12x12 inch oil painting on stretched canvas.
